Page last modified: Sunday, 21-Jul-2024 00:18:53 EDTThe project has several HURLEY men who fall under I-A7110. Three members cite County Cork, Ireland as their paternal line origin. This is a marked difference from what we would expect according to the literature on the origins of Hurley in Cork. Eoghanaght Irish and their paternal line kin fall under R1b, not I2a.
There are enough A7110 Hurleys to warrant attention. Their haplogroup points back to an ancient people among the earliest inhabitants of Europe, presumably repopulating the British Isles after the ice receded after the last Ice Age. They may have resettled in northern and western Europe before the arrival of R1b.
SNP Calendar / Timeline
The calendar reveals the age of this branch of I2a. Notice in the parent SNP stream.
Some subclades of I-P37 reached Ireland from the European continent. A broader look of I-P37 subclades shows a presence in Ireland overall.
Members falling into I-A7110 are encouraged to join the I2a haplogroup project if they haven't already done so. That project reports an English family and an Icelandic family believed to be A7110.
If you have southwest Ireland (Munster) paternal line ancestry, the Munster Irish project is also suitable.

The Modal Haplotypes
The first row of the table is a 67 marker modal for I-P37 from DGMWEB. The second row is a 67 marker modal representing five A7110 Hurleys. Differences between the Hurleys and I-P37 are color coded.
Some haplogroup branches/families experience volatility on particular markers. Matches may show up at 67 markers that didn't show up at 37. Matches could show up at 111 markers that didn't show up at 67. Though there are no guarantees, a full extension of the genetic signature to 111 markers could reveal matches not visible on the lower marker panels.
